A Green Vision for Environmental Sustainability (E) Building green and healthy hospitals The Chang Gung Medical Foundation is both capable and determined to realize sustainable development by gradually implementing policies to create eco-friendly green and healthy hospitals. Our goal was to reduce water, electricity, oil, gas, and waste (converted to their carbon dioxide emission equivalents) of designated hospitals by 7% before 2020, relative to the 2007 baseline. With the exception of the Kaohsiung Branch, which only met a 6.77% reduction due to the addition of the Proton and Radiation Therapy Center, every other branch that was assigned a reduction goal reached their reduction target, including: Keelung, Taipei, Linkou, Taoyuan, and Chiayi.
Introduction of green buildings that meet international standards All new buildings meet standards for the Taiwan EEWH Green Building Gold Certification
Examples include: The Proton Radiotherapy Center, new Research Building, dormitories of the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Yung-Ching Premier Cancer Therapy Center at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and New Taipei City Tucheng Hospital, all of which are Green Building Gold certified.
The Tucheng Branch, which opened in July 2020, was awarded the EEWH Green Building Gold Certification and Smart Building Silver Certification
The Tucheng Branch was designed to be in line with the high standards of the EEWH Green Building Gold Certification, Smart Building Silver Certification, and BIM, creating a positive hospital environment through the eco-friendly, energy-efficient, waste-reduced, and health-promoting design. The branch even won the Special Award in the Planning and Design Category of the 3rd New Taipei City Urban Design Awards.
